PORT HUENEME — The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Oxnard Harbor District – Port of Hueneme for the sixteenth consecutive year. This year’s award, which recognizes the strength of the Port’s comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2025, is the highest form of recognition teams can achieve in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
“We are honored to receive this recognition because we know accountability matters,” said Jason Hodge, President of the Oxnard Harbor District Board of Commissioners. “We prioritize accuracy and transparency and do all we can to serve as a vital economic engine for our region.”
The Port of Hueneme ranks among the top 10 US ports for both fresh produce and automobile imports. As one of the nation’s only debt-free ports, it generates billions of dollars in economic activity while supporting over 25,000 jobs. Fiscal responsibility allows the organization to continue investing in environmental initiatives, operational improvements, and infrastructure upgrades that benefit customers and citizens alike. Each year, the Port gives more than $360,000 in local sponsorships.
The GFOA reviewed the Port’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), scoring the document against the program’s high standards, which include a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate a financial story and motivate individuals and groups to read the report in full. The document, which gives a comprehensive overview of the Port’s financial status and operating results, helps the Port’s customers, business partners, grant agencies, and other stakeholders get a full view of the Port’s financial performance.
“This recognition reflects the strong leadership, teamwork, and shared commitment to financial stewardship across our organization. Sixteen consecutive years is an achievement we can all be proud of,” said Chief Financial and Chief Administration Officer Austin Yang.
The Port’s strong financial position also provides a foundation for continued growth and investment in the community.
“It’s important for the Port to tell our financial story because good stewardship matters. We are growing our business and diversifying revenue streams so we can continue to bring jobs and prosperity to the community,” said CEO Kristin Decas.
Receiving the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for sixteen consecutive years reflects the Port’s ongoing dedication to financial management. It will remain the foundation for long-term success as the Port continues its efforts to modernize infrastructure, advance key environmental projects, and strengthen the regional supply chain.
