VENTURA — The City of Ventura has officially concluded the nomination period for candidates seeking election to the Ventura City Council in the November 3, 2026, General Municipal Election.

The nomination period for City Council Districts 1, 4, 5, and 6 closed at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7. Because the incumbent in District 6 did not file for re-election, the nomination period for District 6 was extended for five days and closed today, Wednesday, August 12, at 5:00 p.m., in accordance with the California Elections Code.

With the close of the extended filing period, candidate nominations are now complete for all City Council districts appearing on the November ballot: Districts 1, 4, 5, and 6.

“Running for public office is a significant commitment, and I want to thank every candidate who stepped forward to participate in our democratic process,” said City Clerk Michael MacDonald. “I also want to thank our City Clerk team for their professionalism and dedication throughout the nomination period.”

The City Clerk’s Office has completed its review of nomination documents and confirmed the candidates who have met the requirements to qualify for the ballot.

While the nomination period for candidates seeking to have their names printed on the ballot has closed, eligible individuals may still qualify as write-in candidates by filing the required documents with the City Clerk’s Office between September 7 and October 20, 2026, in accordance with the California Elections Code.
