Notice of Incumbents Not Seeking Re-election
VENTURA — The City of Ventura announces that Councilmember Jim Duran, District 6, did not file nomination papers to seek re-election by the close of the nomination period.
Pursuant to California Elections Code section 10225, because the incumbent did not file nomination papers by the close of the nomination period at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, the nomination period for the District 6 City Council seat is automatically extended five calendar days. Eligible candidates, other than the incumbent, may file nomination papers until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Candidates for the District 6 City Council seat must reside in and be registered voters of District 6 at the time nomination papers are issued, as required by California Elections Code section 10227.
Nomination papers are available from the City Clerk’s Office during regular business hours. Individuals interested in running for office are encouraged to contact the City Clerk’s Office as soon as possible to schedule an appointment and obtain nomination documents.
