SAN LUIS OBISPO — Lumina Alliance is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors while recognizing four outgoing board members whose leadership helped guide the organization through one of the most transformative periods in its history.
Joining the Board of Directors are:
-
Adrienne Dodd, Human Resources Director, CommonSpirit Health
-
Heather Muran, Director of Portfolio Strategy & Marketing, Covelop Inc.
-
Meghan Shoven, Director, Adventist Health Central Coast Foundation
The organization also extends its heartfelt gratitude to outgoing board members Courtney Taylor, Dave Juhnke, Chelsea Dixon, and Chief Rick Scott of the San Luis Obispo Police Department for their dedicated service. Lumina Alliance is also proud to welcome Debby Nicklas as the new President of the Board of Directors. A longtime supporter of the organization, former Chief Philanthropy Officer at Lumina Alliance, and former Vice President of Philanthropy at Dignity Health Central Coast, Nicklas brings decades of nonprofit leadership and fundraising expertise to the role.
“Courtney, Dave, and Chelsea helped lead Lumina Alliance through the successful merger of RISE and Stand Strong, helping shape the strong foundation our organization stands on today,” said Jennifer Adams, CEO of Lumina Alliance. “Chief Rick Scott has been an invaluable partner in strengthening our collaboration with the San Luis Obispo Police Department and expanding support for survivors throughout our community. Each of these leaders has left a lasting impact, and we are incredibly grateful for their service.”
As Lumina Alliance continues to grow its advocacy, healing, prevention, housing, and therapy programs across San Luis Obispo County, the organization welcomes three accomplished community leaders whose expertise spans healthcare, philanthropy, marketing, and organizational leadership.
“I’m honored to join the Lumina Alliance Board because I believe every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported,” said Meghan Shoven. “Organizations like Lumina Alliance provide the advocacy, resources, and hope that help individuals and families rebuild their lives after trauma, and I’m proud to help strengthen that work in our community.”
Adrienne Dodd said she was inspired by Lumina Alliance’s survivor-centered approach and commitment to creating lasting change.
“I believe everyone deserves to live free from sexual and intimate partner violence,” Dodd said. “Lumina’s dedication to walking alongside survivors while working to build a safer community deeply resonates with my values, and I’m honored to serve this organization.”
For Heather Muran, serving on the board is a continuation of a connection that has grown through community involvement.
“The more I learned about Lumina Alliance, the more I realized how many people around us have been impacted by domestic violence or sexual violence,” Muran said. “Removing stigma, creating safe spaces for survivors, and investing in prevention and education are essential. I’m proud to support an organization doing such meaningful work.”
Lumina Alliance’s Board of Directors provides strategic leadership and governance to support the organization’s mission of empowering those impacted by sexual and intimate partner violence through advocacy, healing, and prevention. Together, board members help ensure survivors throughout San Luis Obispo County continue to have access to critical services, including emergency shelter, therapy, crisis intervention, housing support, and violence prevention education.
