Open-house event will feature a virtual reality coastal flooding visualization, interactive input stations, and an overview of Ventura’s coastal planning effort
VENTURA — The City of Ventura is updating its Local Coastal Program (LCP) and invites residents, business owners, and property owners to learn more and share their input at a community workshop on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Museum of Ventura County, located at 100 E Main St., Ventura, CA 93001. This event is free and open to the public and interested individuals are encouraged to attend.
Ventura’s coastline is one of the City’s most valuable assets, supporting recreation, tourism, the local economy, marine ecosystems, and the quality of life that defines the community. As sea levels rise and coastal challenges evolve, protecting these resources requires updated planning tools that reflect both current science and community priorities. The Local Coastal Program guides how the City manages development, public access, and natural resources along the coast, and this update will help ensure Ventura’s coastal planning keeps pace with changing conditions.
The workshop is an open-house-style event designed to make it easy for community members to drop in, explore, and provide comments at their own pace.
Attendees can:
- View an overview presentation on the Local Coastal Program update
- Experience a virtual reality visualization of coastal flooding in Ventura
- Visit interactive stations covering sea level rise, coastal erosion, beach access, and coastal flooding
- Share input that will help shape the city’s coastal planning efforts
