California Lutheran University offers Summer enrichment programs

Programs are for students from kindergarten to 12th grade and educational professionals

THOUSAND OAKS — Students of all ages and educational professionals can avoid “summer brain drain” by exploring a variety of enriching programs this summer at California Lutheran University. The programs run June through August and are designed to help students excel while having fun and for educators to enhance their classroom skills. Offerings include Camp CLUE for K-8th-grade students and the Pre-College Summer Academy for high school students wanting to earn college credits. Educators can choose one-unit Micro-Credential Courses on a wide range of topics.

“With this new suite of summer programs, we are connecting the school year with meaningful summer learning opportunities for students and educators,” Assistant Provost for Programs and Partnerships Brandy Yee, Ph.D., said. “These programs were designed in close collaboration with Cal Lutheran faculty and community partners to create high-quality learning experiences that spark curiosity and support long-term success.”

The programs include:

Camp CLUE (California Lutheran University Explorers): A week-long discovery camp for kindergarten through 8th-grade students. Attendees can take multiple sessions, each with a different theme.

Students will experience hands-on learning that encourages creativity and enjoy activities associated with timeless summer camp fun. The activities are tailored for every grade level, ensuring campers enjoy activities that are engaging, age-appropriate and match their interests.

Pre-College Summer Academy: Rising 10th- to 12th-grade students can earn four units of college credit while experiencing college-level learning.

The two-week courses are taught by Cal Lutheran faculty in small-class settings. Students are mentored and have hands-on academic experiences, introducing them to university expectations, academic rigor and potential career pathways. The courses are an asset for college applications and cover a range of topics from business and entrepreneurship and Spanish, to engineering and STEM pathways and media, film and broadcasting.

Micro-Credential Courses: These high-impact, modular classes are designed for TK-12th-grade educators seeking meaningful, flexible professional growth.

Each small, collaborative class is one week and provides a one-unit micro-credential. Courses are online or in person and provide direct classroom relevance and curriculum grounded in research and best practices. Educators can stack multiple micro-credentials to build a customized pathway aligned to their professional and personal learning goals.

Cal Lutheran launched the summer enrichment programs for youth and educators to address unmet needs in the community. All of the curriculum was developed in partnership with Cal Lutheran staff and experts in their fields to provide age-appropriate learning experiences for youth in an engaging environment. The micro-credentials program offers real-world strategies that educators can use inside and outside the classroom to advance their careers.

Cal Lutheran is located at 60 W. Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks.
