VENTURA — A new live webcam overlooking the historic Ventura Pier and City beach is giving residents, visitors, and viewers around the world a real-time look at one of Ventura’s most treasured landmarks. The launch comes just in time to celebrate the 154th anniversary of the original Ventura Wharf, completed on October 5, 1872. Today, the Ventura Pier is the oldest pier in California.
Looking east along the coastline, the camera provides a continuous, real-time view of the pier, beach, Pacific Ocean, and surrounding waterfront. The webcam, powered by Pixelcaster, provides a live view as well as a time-lapse of the previous day. The camera does not record or store video footage.
“Ventura’s coastline is one of the things that makes our community so special, and this webcam gives people a chance to experience a little piece of it wherever they are,” said Mayor Dr. Jeannette Sánchez-Palacios. “Whether you’re checking the surf, catching a sunrise, planning a visit to the beach, or simply missing Ventura, you can now enjoy this incredible view in real time.”

Originally built as a commercial wharf, the Ventura Pier has evolved over more than 150 years into a beloved community gathering place for fishing, walking, sightseeing, and enjoying the ocean. Its preservation has also been supported by nonprofit Pier Into the Future, which has worked since 1993 to preserve, maintain, and enhance the landmark for future generations.
