OXNARD — The Oxnard Performing Arts Center Corporation (OPAC) invites anime fans, gamers, cosplayers, artists, and curious newcomers to experience IchigoCon 2026 on Saturday, August 15, at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, 800 Hobson Way.
Now in its fourth year, IchigoCon has grown into one of Ventura County’s premier celebrations of anime, gaming, cosplay, and Japanese pop culture, attracting thousands of attendees from across Southern California. The one-day convention blends entertainment with arts and cultural programming, creating an inclusive space where fans of all ages can connect, create, and celebrate shared interests.
This year’s convention introduces several exciting new attractions and expanded programming, including:

Voice Actor Guests: Meet acclaimed voice actors Laila Berzins, Paul Castro Jr., Cedric Williams, Steve Kramer, and Michael Sorich, whose work spans popular anime series, animated films, and video games.

Cosplay Guests: IchigoCon will once again feature dedicated cosplay guests, giving attendees the opportunity to meet accomplished costume artists, learn new techniques, and celebrate the creativity behind cosplay.

Gaming Industry Panel: In partnership with Latin X in Gaming, attendees can hear directly from gaming industry professionals about career pathways into game development while meeting development teams showcasing their latest independent games.

Beyblade Tournament: Hosted by West Coast Bladers, this high-energy competition brings together Beyblade enthusiasts for exciting head-to-head battles throughout the day.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament: Competitive players from across the region will compete in one of Southern California’s premier Smash tournaments, presented in partnership with Dream Catcher Gaming and streamed live on Twitch.

Toshokan Café Maid Café: Experience the charm and hospitality of a traditional Japanese-style maid café with themed entertainment and interactive performances.

Itasha Car Showcase: Explore a collection of custom vehicles featuring elaborate anime-inspired artwork, a growing art form within Japanese car culture.

Ribbon Trading: New to IchigoCon this year, attendees can collect commemorative badge ribbons throughout the convention by visiting vendors, participating in activities, completing challenges, and engaging with exhibitors. Inspired by a long-standing convention tradition, ribbon trading encourages exploration while creating fun keepsakes and opportunities for connection.

Artist Alley & Vendor Hall: Shop original artwork, collectibles, apparel, manga, toys, games, and handmade merchandise from artists and vendors across California.

Workshops & Activities: Learn through hands-on workshops featuring anime drawing, Japanese language, cosplay, and other creative experiences.
“IchigoCon continues to grow because it’s about more than anime or gaming,” said Christian Ramirez, OPAC’s Director of Events & Programs. “It’s about creating a place where people feel they belong. Whether you’re discovering anime for the first time, competing in a tournament, meeting your favorite voice actor, or connecting with other fans, IchigoCon celebrates creativity, community, and cultural exchange.”
As part of California’s designated Downtown Oxnard Cultural District, IchigoCon also serves as an important cultural tourism event, introducing thousands of visitors to Downtown Oxnard while supporting local artists, small businesses, and the region’s growing creative economy.
Doors open at 11:00 a.m. and the event is open to all ages. Free parking is available on site.
