SANTA PAULA — The City of Santa Paula is proud to highlight the growing regional leadership of its elected officials as they continue to secure influential roles on countywide and regional boards, ensuring Santa Paula’s voice is strongly represented in critical policy decisions.
Earlier this year, Mayor Pedro A. Chavez was elected by the mayors of all Ventura County cities to serve on several influential boards and commissions, including the Association of Water Agencies of Ventura County, the Ventura County Air Pollution Control Board, and as Vice Chair of the South Central Coast Basinwide Control Council, which coordinates efforts among the Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control Districts.
“These appointments represent a rising voice for Santa Paula in shaping vital regional policies around water resources, environmental health, and air quality,” said Mayor Chavez. “Our city’s perspective is now part of the decision-making table at a higher level, which uplifts our standing and strengthens our influence throughout Ventura County. As we continue advocating for the needs of Santa Paula, we are proud to help guide the future of our region on issues that impact every resident.”
Santa Paula’s growing regional presence is further demonstrated by Councilmember Jenny Crosswhite, who was recently appointed Second Vice President of the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and continues to serve as Vice Chair of Ventura LAFCo, and Councilmember Leslie Cornejo, who has long been a leader in Ventura County. In addition to serving on multiple regional boards, Cornejo has been a director of the Ventura County Fairgrounds since 2008, including five years as board president, where she has championed events and initiatives that celebrate and strengthen the county’s agricultural heritage and community traditions.
“These leadership roles showcase Santa Paula’s commitment to shaping policies that directly affect our residents and neighboring communities,” said Mayor Chavez. “With representation on key boards, we are ensuring that Santa Paula’s needs and perspectives are part of the decisions that will guide Ventura County’s future.”
