MusicaLatitudes and Teatro de las Américas, two Ventura County arts organizations dedicated to popularizing Latin American art and culture, will present “Agustin Lara, Now and Forever…” at 7:30 p.m. March 3 at the Oxnard College Performing Arts Auditorium, 4000 So. Rose Ave., Oxnard and 5 p.m. Sunday, March 4 at the 24th St. Theatre, 117 W. 24th St., Los Angeles.
Written by Miguel Heredia, the play is an entertaining show based on the life of one of the most important 20th century composers of popular music in Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world, Teatro reported in a media release.
The play is an almost clandestine and intimate look at some of the most critical moments in the life of an insecure and depressed young pianist, who in time reached unprecedented success among his contemporaries in the romantic music genre, Teatro reported.
Tickets, $12, are available at Burrito Express, 230 So. Ventura Road; Panaderia Vanessa, 209 W. Pleasant Valley Road, and Gen Mai Sushi, 3623 W. 5th St., all in Oxnard.
