Tri-County trade organizations donate to construction-prep high school
CAMARILLO – Representatives from two local trade organizations, Tri-counties Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning National Assoc. (SMACNA) and Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #273, recently joined forces and donated funding for Camarillo’s Architecture, Construction and Engineering Charter High School (ACE), the organizations reported Wednesday in a media release.
Steve Reno, SMACNA president, and Steve Sweeting, business manager of Sheet Metal Workers Local #273, presented a $3,100 check on Feb. 14 to ACE school administrators. The funding will be used to purchase shop materials at the school which offers a performance-based hands-on curriculum designed to prepare students for direct entry into college, professional apprenticeship programs or construction-related careers.
“The ACE school is a wonderful educational option for Ventura County students who are interested in learning about construction-related trades,” Reno said. “We are proud to support our next generation of skilled craftsmen.”
