Donation to the Imagination

In the tradition of holiday spirit of giving, the Downtown Main Library is a drop-off location for the “Donation to the Imagination” holiday book drive, sponsored by United Way, the Oxnard Public Library reported on its website

From now until Saturday, Dec. 3, you can give the gift of literacy by donating new and gently used books that will benefit children living in low-income families in Oxnard.

“It’s very important that children have access to books in their home. Owning and reading books contributes to the education success in our children,” said Library Director Barbara Murray.

Reading induces creativity and effectuates knowledge. While many kids are deprived of something as simple as a book, think about how books impacted your life. Most kids have never held a book, let alone seen one, and are illiterate. Each book represents a kid that can get the chance to read. Think of the rewarding experience of impacting a child’s life and helping your community by donating a book.
