Mitchel Sloan Appointed Interim President & CEO for United Way of Ventura County and Selected for Worldwide Leadership Program

VENTURA — United Way of Ventura County (UWVC) on March 3 announced that Mitchel Sloan has been appointed Interim President & CEO. Sloan will serve in this role as the UWVC Board of Directors identify the organization’s next leader.

Since 2019, Sloan has served as the Vice President of Resource Development and Marketing, advancing United Way’s awareness, community outreach, and philanthropic efforts. He’s helped lead several local initiatives, including Women United, which provides support for single mothers by empowering them through financial capability and education, and United to End Homelessness Ventura County, which supports individuals, families, seniors, and veterans experiencing homelessness.
“I am inspired by this amazing organization of passionate leaders committed to making a difference in the lives of our most vulnerable Ventura County neighbors in need,” said Sloan. “I look forward to growing our public and private partnerships to help the community recover from the pandemic with a focus on increasing economic stability, education, and health.”
Sloan has also been has been selected to participate in United Way’s Advanced Leadership Program. The Advanced Leadership (ALP) program is a year-long leadership development course designed for senior-level professionals who are strong performers and have demonstrated a capacity for leadership.

Selection for ALP is based on an individual’s performance, mastery of skills and core competencies, and potential for leadership. Applications come from the nearly 13,000 people serving in local United Ways around the world, and across all departments. Admission to the program is highly selective, with participation limited to just 18 applicants each year.
