Preserving History with a New Vision: SBTHP Reveals Updated Brand

SANTA BARBARA — The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation (SBTHP) is pleased to announce some exciting news. We’ve embarked on a journey to refresh our brand identity, and we’re excited to unveil a new look that better reflects our evolving mission and celebrates the rich history and cultures of Santa Barbara County.

This rebrand isn’t just about a new logo; it’s about breathing new life into our visual presence to create a timeless, enduring, and inclusive brand. Our goal is to inspire a new generation of preservation advocates and connect with a wider audience, from lifelong history enthusiasts to those just discovering Santa Barbara’s past and ongoing cultural heritage.

We’ve crafted a creative direction that captures the spirit of Santa Barbara’s diverse historical legacies while embracing a forward-looking vision. Our new brand conveys a broad multi-cultural perspective that truly reflects the breadth of our mission and values. It tells a more compelling story, emphasizing the varied heritage of our region in a way that feels accessible, modern, and engaging, all while maintaining the timeless spirit of SBTHP.

This refreshed brand identity is also designed to be flexible and adaptable, easily scaling to embrace the unique features of our various properties and initiatives, ensuring a cohesive and unified presence across all our endeavors. Our logo incorporates a symbol drawn from
similar but distinct iconography from multiple cultures, including Indigenous, Asian and Hispanic traditions, which come together here in a new form. We invite you to explore our new look and learn more about our shared impact as we continue to champion Santa Barbara’s unique multi-cultural heritage. We’re excited about this new chapter and look forward to sharing more about our ongoing work and upcoming initiatives, and contributions to community programs, historical archaeology, and the interpretation of historical narratives.
