The County of Ventura appoints a new Chief Probation Officer

The Board of Supervisors, through unanimous vote during their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 24, appointed Ronald Miller II to the position of Chief Probation Officer. His appointment follows a competitive recruitment process that drew candidates from across the region. Miller steps into the role following the retirement of former Chief Probation Officer Gina Johnson in June.

“We’re very excited to welcome Ronald Miller to our team as he steps into this important leadership role,” shared 4th District Supervisor, Janice Parvin, Chair of the Board of Supervisors. “We’re confident that his longstanding experience and proven leadership will guide the agency forward with success. His deep commitment to community investment, combined with an extensive career in law enforcement, makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead the Ventura County Probation Agency.”

Miller joins the agency following a 35-year career in the field of probation in both San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Most recently, Miller served as the Chief Probation Officer for the Riverside County Probation Department, where he oversaw over 1,000 employees, 10,000 adult and juvenile clients, and managed three juvenile halls.

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT – Ventura County Animal Services Waives Fees for Lost Pet Reclaims July 1–8

To help ease overcrowding and reunite pets with their families quickly, Ventura County Animal Services (VCAS) will waive all impound and boarding fees for any stray animals reclaimed between July 1–8. This effort comes in anticipation of the 4th of July holiday when shelters nationwide experience a sharp increase in lost pets.

With dog kennels already operating well over capacity, this fee waiver is a proactive step to reduce the number of animals housed at the shelter during one of the busiest times of the year.
