Building Your Housing Vocabulary: Affordable Housing
Affordable housing refers to housing that costs less than 30% of a household’s income, including rent or mortgage and utilities. This standard helps ensure people can afford other basic needs like food, healthcare, and transportation.
No state has enough affordable rental housing for its lowest-income renters. You can learn more at nlihc.org/gap and explore how PSHH is advocating for change at pshhc.org/advocacy. |

55 Years of Impact: Becoming One
On July 1, 2018 the Duncan Group merged with People’s Self-Help Housing, uniting two companies under one name. Since 1996, The Duncan Group had served as the property management agent for PSHH, with both companies working toward the same mission-minded goals. To celebrate this union, team members gathered for a day-long retreat to hear from leadership, celebrate the mission, and bond with one another as a united group.
