Mountain Fire Community Update
As our community comes together in the wake of the Mountain Fire, we want to assure all Ventura County residents that support is here.

This newsletter update offers information on essential resources, key information, and upcoming events to aid in recovery efforts. Our teams are working alongside local and state agencies to deliver the assistance you need as quickly as possible.

VenturaCountyRecovers.org is your official recovery portal, offering essential resources and guidance.

Here’s some of the info you’ll find:

recovery assistance, financial aid, housing help, mental health support, and more.

Community resources are also available to connect with local aid, food distribution events, and counseling services.

County of Ventura and City of Camarillo to host community meeting for residents affected by the Mountain Fire

 

The County of Ventura and the City of Camarillo will host a community meeting at Rancho Campana High School in the Performing Arts Center. The community meeting will provide residents the opportunity to hear directly from City and County agencies and officials involved in the response to the Mountain Fire. As well, residents will gain a better understanding of the resources that will be available through the Local Assistance Center that will open on Thursday, November 14.

  • WHAT: Mountain Fire Community Meeting
  • WHEN: Wednesday, November 13 – 6:30 p.m.
  • WHERE: Rancho Campana High School
  • Performing Arts Center
  • 4235 Mar Vista Dr. Camarillo, CA 93010
  • WHY: Residents will hear from County of Ventura and City of Camarillo officials regarding latest updates on the Mountain Fire and forthcoming information on the Local Assistance Center.

Interpretation in both ASL and Spanish will be available. As well, bilingual staff will be on-site to provide support.

The event will be available via livestream at vcemergency.com

To further aid fire victims, the County of Ventura offers information and resources via the Ventura County Recovers website at venturacountyrecovers.org. As well, information on recovery resources available through the City of Camarillo are available at: cityofcamarillo.org/mountainfire

Local Assistance Center Opening November 14th for Residents Impacted by Mountain Fire

A Local Assistance Center will be opening on November 14, 2024 at the Ventura County Office Education Conference and Education Center located at 5100 Adolfo Road in Camarillo.

Local Assistance Centers are designed to provide one centralized location for information, referrals, resources, and services to individuals and families impacted by disasters. There will be a number of Local Government, State Government, and Community-Based Organizations offering support and services at the Local Assistance Center.

Service providers will be offering information, resources and services related to Insurance and Rebuilding Assistance, Safe Debris Removal, Vital Record Replacement, Tax Relief Assistance, Housing Assistance,

Unemployment/Employment Assistance, Business Assistance, Health and Wellness Assistance, Food and Basic Needs Assistance, Supportive Services for Older Adults and Individuals with Disabilities, and Public Assistance Benefits through the CalWORKs, CalFresh, and MediCal Programs.

This collaborative effort is designed to help the community recover and rebuild as efficiently as possible.

Local Health Emergency Declared for Mountain Fire Impacted Areas

Local Health Emergency Declared for Mountain Fire Impacted Areas

On November 8, 2024, the Ventura County Public Health Officer declared a Local Health Emergency due to potential toxic exposures and threats to public health and the environment following the Mountain Fire.

This declaration enables the County to request disaster assistance from State and Federal Agencies and may allow property owners to participate in a voluntary debris removal program.

Fire debris can contain hazardous materials such as asbestos, heavy metals, and toxic chemicals from burned household items, posing long-term health risks. Residents are urged to avoid exposure to hazardous debris while searching for personal items.
