Ventura County Council Boy Scouts of America Rebrands to Scouting America

Ventura County chapter of Boy Scouts of America to reflect name change in line with the national rebrand

VENTURA COUNTY — Scouting America (formerly Ventura County Council Boy Scouts of America), Ventura County Council (SAVCC) has rebranded in name, in line with the announcement that the national organization will officially transition in name from Boy Scouts of America to Scouting America in early 2025, as it celebrates its 115th anniversary.

The name change reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to welcome every youth and family to experience the benefits of scouting. The announcement comes as the organization also celebrates the fifth anniversary of welcoming girls into Cub Scouting and Scouts BSA programs. Nationally, Scouting America currently serves more than 176,000 girls and young women across all programs, including over 6,000 who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. The local SAVCC has served over 4,500 youth (including non-Scouts), 779 adult leaders, and sends more than 5,000 kids to camp each year since its founding in 1921, just 11 years after the creation of the national organization.

“Scouting is for everyone, and that’s really what this name change reflects,” said Scout Executive and CEO, Andrea McClellan. “Scouting America will continue to provide the same quality scouting experiences that reflect the organization’s commitment to developing leadership and life skills and character building, while operating as a welcoming organization for boys and girls alike.”

SAVCC builds on the overarching organization’s 114 years of helping youth. Its ongoing goal is to provide the young people of Ventura County with a safe environment where they can learn meaningful life skills and have fun, educational experiences that foster their growth. At the same time, values instilled by the Scout Oath and Law help prepare young people for lives of purpose, leadership and impact. In addition to supporting the local Ventura County youth, SAVCC will continue to be an important asset to strengthen our community, providing hours of volunteer services for community improvement and other projects.

SAVCC is now accepting registration for new Scouts to join the Scouting America family, and encourages interested youth and families to learn more at https://www.scoutingamericavc.org/join.
