Spotlight on VC Continuum of Care: "2024 Homeless Point in Time Count"
Volunteers Needed: Point In Time Homeless Count
The Ventura County Continuum of Care needs volunteers for the upcoming Point In Time Homeless count on January 24th! The count serves as a crucial tool for understanding the extent and nature of homelessness within the region while securing critical federal funding.
Conducted annually, this count provides a snapshot of the homeless population on a specific day (January 24th), aiding policy makers, service providers, and advocates in assessing the effectiveness of current interventions and shaping future strategies. The data collected helps identify trends, allocate resources more effectively, and measure progress towards addressing homelessness in Ventura County.

Interested in brightening the day of a senior in our community? Send in cards to the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging’s “Letters of Support” campaign.
The VCAAA’s Letters of Support program seeks to provide an uplifting addition to the seniors who receive home-delivered meals. We are asking the community to provide greeting cards (either handmade or premade) with short, positive messages written inside that can be included with their meals.
Since the Letters of Support program began in 2020, residents of Ventura County have provided thousands and thousands of letters to the VCAAA, which have in turn brightened the day for many of the area’s older adults and people with disabilities.

A Threat to Ventura County Agriculture
Urgent Agricultural Reminder!
Ventura County’s agriculture is under threat from two highly invasive pests.
The Asian Citrus Psyllid insect brings the deadly Huanglongbing (HLB) disease turning trees green and killing them. The Queensland Fruit fly devastates fruits and vegetables, infecting them and making them inedible.
#SaveOurFood by heeding the current quarantines across the State of California especially those here at home and DO NOTmove or share your homegrown fruit!
Do you suspect your tree is infected? Contact the California Department of Food and Agriculture Pest Hotline at 1-800-491-1899.
CDFA can arrange a time to test your tree.
