Bilingual report — 34 cadets graduate from Allan Hancock College’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Academy

SANTA MARIA — After 16 weeks of classroom and field instruction, 34 cadets graduated from Allan Hancock College’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Academy on Dec.7. The cadets were recognized for completing the Emergency Medical Services Academy 1A during a ceremony at Hancock’s Public Safety Training Complex (PSTC) in Lompoc.

Upon completion of the training, the cadets can provide basic life-saving skills and have passed a national registry test to become emergency medical technicians (EMTs).

During their time at the academy, the cadets learned critical skills such as patient handling and moving, emergency vehicle driving, and more. Much of the training was hands-on and utilized the state-of-the-art equipment and technology available at the PSTC. In addition to traditional classroom learning environments, the cadets also trained in one of the only community college EMS simulation labs in the state.

Hancock’s high-tech lab includes simulation mannequins and an ambulance simulator that allows students to experience and practice the treatment of a patient while in a moving vehicle.

34 CADETES SE GRADU?AN DE LA ACADEMIA DE SERVICIOS ME?DICOS DE HANCOCK

Despue?s de 16 semanas de instruccio?n, 34 cadetes se graduaron de la Academia de Servicios Me?dicos de Emergencia (EMS) de Allan Hancock College el 7 de diciembre. Los cadetes fueron reconocidos por completar la Academia de Servicios Me?dicos de Emergencia 1A durante una ceremonia en el Complejo de Entrenamiento de Seguridad Pu?blica de Hancock (Public Safety Training Complex) en Lompoc. Al finalizar la capacitacio?n, los cadetes pueden brindar habilidades ba?sicas de salvamento y han completado un examen nacional para establecerse como te?cnicos en emergencias me?dicas (EMT).

Durante su tiempo en la academia, los cadetes aprendieron habilidades cri?ticas como manejo y traslado de pacientes, conduccio?n de vehi?culos de emergencia y ma?s. Gran parte de la capacitacio?n consistio? en pra?ctica y se utilizo? lo u?ltimo en tecnologi?a y equipo disponible en el Complejo de Entrenamiento de Seguridad Pu?blica. Adema?s, los cadetes tuvieron la oportunidad de entrenar en uno de los pocos laboratorios de simulacio?n de servicios me?dicos de emergencia (EMS) que existe en California.

El laboratorio avanzado de Hancock tiene maniqui?es para simulacros y un simulador de ambulancia donde los estudiantes practican el tratamiento de pacientes mientras el vehi?culo esta? en movimiento.
