50+ Now Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine at County Public Health Vaccination Sites
Santa Barbara County residents who are 50 years of age and older will be able to make an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine beginning today for Public Health Community Vaccination Clinics in Lompoc, happening March 28 through April 3. Effective April 1, people 50 years of age and older will also be eligible to schedule appointments at any of the participating pharmacies, hospitals or health care providers as supply is available.

 

As of this afternoon, county residents may begin scheduling appointments for the first Public Health Community Vaccination Clinics located at the Dick DeWees Community & Senior Center in Lompoc happening from March 28 through April 3 and available to all eligible groups.

 

Groups currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at Public Health

Community Vaccination Clinics include:

 

  • people over the age of 50
  • phase 1A health care workers
  • education and childcare workers
  • emergency service workers
  • food and agriculture workers
  • people between the ages of 16-64 with high risk medical conditions

 

All eligible community members can sign up for a vaccine appointment by registering online at the Public Health Website or by calling 2-1-1 and pressing option 4 for assistance. The call center is open 7 days a week from 9a.m. – 5p.m. These clinics will only be administering first-dose Pfizer vaccines at this time.

 
Is Someone You Know Having Trouble Paying Rent?
The County of Santa Barbara is offering Emergency Rental & Utility Assistance through United Way of Santa Barbara County to eligible County of Santa Barbara residents, that have experienced a loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic and can demonstrate the need for rental support. This Emergency Rent Assistance Program is intended to prevent homelessness by providing rent assistance to residents.

Funds can be applied toward past-due rent back to March 2020 or current rent. Upon application approval, eligible renter households may receive three-month rental assistance, up to $6,000 per household, as well as emergency utility payments. Applicants can re-apply every 3 months up to maximum of 15 months. Assistance payments to applicants will be paid directly to landlord and/or utility providers on behalf of the applicant.
