VENTURA — Community members are invited to City Hall for a special open house hosted by the City Clerk’s Office in celebration of Municipal Clerks Week on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at 501 Poli Street. The event is free and open to the public.
This year’s theme, “Your Voice. Your City. Your Clerks.”, highlights the important role municipal clerks play in supporting both the community and City operations. As stewards of the public record and facilitators of open government, the City Clerk’s Office serves as a direct link between the public and the City by ensuring access to information, supporting transparent decision-making, and helping residents stay active through civic engagement.
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
-
Learn about local elections, public records, and legislative processes
-
Explore ways to get involved, including serving on boards and commissions
-
Visit interactive stations showcasing transparency practices with agendas, minutes, and records management
-
Receive a raffle entry for a chance to win a prize
Whether assisting with public records requests, coordinating elections, or preparing for City Council meetings, the Clerk’s Office remains committed to being accessible, responsive, and service-oriented.
“We look forward to welcoming the community to City Hall to explore how local government works and to highlight the importance of transparency in civic engagement,” said City Clerk Michael MacDonald, MMC.
