All About Electric Vehicles:
Ownership, Charging, and How to Get Money Back

Webinar Resources Toolkit

Thank you to everyone who joined our webinar “All About Electric Vehicles: Ownership, Charging, and How to Get Money Back”! CEC’s Climate Mitigation Program Manager Sean McArthur walked through the benefits of driving electric, how to navigate charging options and costs, and incentives that can help make EV ownership more affordable. If you’re ready to learn more or considering making the switch, CEC is here to help!
Here’s a quick look at what we covered:
- Saving on fuel and maintenance. Charging an EV can cost significantly less than filling up a gas-powered car, and EVs require less routine maintenance.
- Understanding your charging options. Learn about Level 1, Level 2 and DC fast charging, how charging costs vary by location and time of day, and tools like PlugShare and ChargePoint to find public chargers.
- Exploring available incentives. Programs such as the Driving Clean Assistance Program (DCAP), utility and community choice energy rebates, and MyFirstEV may help reduce the upfront cost of an EV.
- Finding charging closer to home. CEC’s E-CAR 805 project is expanding public charging access near multifamily housing across Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo Counties, helping address a common barrier for renters.

Save on Your Next Home Heating or Cooling Upgrade
Goleta residents can save more than $200 on eligible home electrification projects through the City of Goleta’s Heat Pump Permit Fee Waiver Program. The pilot program waives permit fees for residential projects installing electric heat pump water heaters and HVAC systems at the time of replacement, including in single-family and multi-family homes. The fee waiver can be combined with other local electrification incentives for even greater savings, but funding is limited to $10,000 and available until exhausted. Learn more.
