VENTURA — What happens when more than 40 ceramic artists are given the same simple idea—a mug—and complete freedom to make it their own? The result is the 7th Annual Marvelous Mug Marketplace, a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and the endless possibilities of handmade pottery, taking place September 12–13, from 11 AM to 6 PM, at the Ventura Pottery Gallery in Ventura Harbor Village.

Each artist brings a unique vision to this beloved everyday object. Expect mugs that are whimsical, sculptural, colorful, earthy, elegant, playful, and everything in between. Some will make you smile, some will make you wonder how they were made, and some may become the mug you reach for every morning.
The best part? You have to come to the Gallery to see them all.
The Marvelous Mug Marketplace is an opportunity to discover the creativity of Ventura County’s ceramic community while exploring the Ventura Pottery Gallery, an artist-run gallery featuring handcrafted work by more than 50 regional potters. In addition to the special mug collection, visitors will find serving pieces, bowls, sculptural ceramics, decorative work, and functional pottery—making the Gallery a destination for anyone who loves handmade art.
All mugs are lead-free, microwave-safe, and dishwasher-safe, so these are pieces meant to be enjoyed every day—not simply admired on a shelf.
The Marketplace takes place during the popular Harbor Art & Street Painting Festival, making it a perfect weekend to visit Ventura Harbor Village. Take in the street painting, enjoy the waterfront, and make the Ventura Pottery Gallery part of your Harbor experience.
The Ventura Pottery Gallery, located at 1567 Spinnaker Drive, Suite 105 in Ventura Harbor Village, is open daily from 11 AM to 6 PM. The Gallery is operated by the Ventura County Potters’ Guild, a nonprofit organization founded in 1957 that supports ceramic artists through exhibitions, education, and community outreach.
