OXNARD — Abiel Acosta, the founder and president of Acosta Wealth Management, has announced he is partnering with three other experienced financial planning firms to launch a new, more expansive company called Prospera Succession Partners.

The new firm brings together Acosta, a 20-year financial planning veteran based in Oxnard, with three other accomplished financial planning professionals and their teams spanning Northern and Southern California and Hawaii. Prospera Succession Partners combines the expertise of each partner’s decades of experience to offer comprehensive financial planning and wealth advisory services for families, business owners, young professionals, pre-retirees and retirees.

A financial planner and advisor for more than two decades, Acosta has earned the respect of his clients and colleagues. His approach focuses on helping clients pursue long-term financial success through a diligent and proactive financial planning process. A graduate in economics from Dartmouth College, Acosta also holds a Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor® credential, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner certification, and a Certified Business Exit Consultant® designation. Having grown up in a family of hardworking restaurant owners in Ventura, he understands and appreciates the long hours and personal sacrifices many business owners make to pursue their dreams and is dedicated to helping them reach financial independence and fulfill their succession and legacy plans.

Partnering with Acosta to launch Prospera Succession Partners are financial planners Derek Ferriera, Roberto J. Duran and Derrick Nguyen. Ferriera brings three decades of experience to his clients, during which he has mentored other advisors to build successful practices and worked on over a thousand cases providing clients the benefit of knowing that their plan will run through multiple design sessions before the appropriate options are presented. He holds multiple financial planner certifications and is a graduate of Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo.

Duran has worked in the field of finance since 1998, starting as an intern in Corporate Market Risk Management with Bankers Trust Co. in New York and later working as a junior analyst in Mergers and Acquisitions with Hovde Financial, Inc., in Walnut Creek, Calif. In 2000, Duran began growing his own practice as a comprehensive financial planner, working primarily with business professionals and educators in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Finance from the University of San Francisco in 1999 and holds several financial planner certifications.

Nguyen began working in financial services in 2013 as an intern for Osaic FA (formerly Lincoln Financial Advisors) in Irvine, California. He graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Finance Degree, and an Emphasis in Financial Planning, in 2014. He started his career as a Private Wealth Advisor shortly after graduation. His passion and commitment are serving families and business owners’ desires to achieve their financial aims by means of high-quality comprehensive financial planning.
