SANTA MARIA — Twenty-six recruits graduated from Allan Hancock College’s Basic Law Enforcement Academy on Dec. 6 at the college’s Public Safety Training Complex in Lompoc.?
The graduating recruits of Class #23-126 gathered with their friends and families to celebrate the completion of more than 856 training hours required to graduate from the academy and enter careers as peace officers. Nearly all of the recruits have already been hired by Central Coast law enforcement agencies.
“You have strapped into the seat of one of the greatest rollercoaster rides of your life,” Grover Beach Police Chief John Peters told the graduates. “This profession will have you experiencing more things than you ever imagined.”
In order to graduate, the recruits were required to successfully pass Hancock’s Basic Law Enforcement Academy. During the academy’s 855 hours of instruction, the recruits received training in community policing, search and seizure, firearms, ethics, investigation procedures, patrol techniques, arrest and control, physical training, CPR/First Aid, emergency vehicle operations and other important skills.
“We were able to unite, come together and work as a team,” said academy graduate and newly-minted Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Nova.
All of the 26 academy graduates are now employed by local law enforcement agencies including the San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Paso Robles, Lompoc, Grover Beach and Santa Maria police departments, as well as the San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County sheriff’s offices.
The Class #23-126 graduates include Zeke Alleman, Zachary Andersen, Juvencio Andrade, Carlos Avila, Andrew Cordell, Brenda Cuevas, Mitchell Cunningham, Ramiro Espinoza Jr., Ciana Garcia, Blake Goodwin, Jasyn Green, Israel Guiterrez, Hugo Hernandez, Trenten Howell, Chad Koenig, Natalie Mangskau, Christian Navarro Nunez, Daniel Nova, Erica Pereyra, Jourdan Richman, Arturo Rios Garcia, Jared Scherrer, Shane Stewart, Alyssa Torres, Wilhelm Wallace and Elijah Wilkinson.
