‘Sabor…’ comes to ARTS Space Obispo with reception on Nov. 4

Sabor ~ A Taste of Latino Artists from the Central Coast,” opens with a reception at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 during San Luis Obispo’s monthy Art After Dark artwalk at ARTS Space Obispo, SLO Creamery, 570 Higuera St., #165, San Luis Obispo.

Sabor means so much more than just “taste” – sabor is the soul of a culture,” Enedina Castañeda, curator of the next show at ARTS Space Obispo, stated in a media release.

Sabor” boasts the work of seven artists: Carlos Díaz (San Luis Obispo), Valinda Gallea (Nipomo), Alvaro Angeles Suman (Santa Barbara), Jorge Hernández (Santa Barbara), Pedro Paez (Santa Maria), María Rendón (Santa Barbara) and Joshua Solis (Guadalupe).

These Latino artists explore both traditional and contemporary Mexican subjects including indigenous symbolism, folk art, magic realism, and portraiture. Ranging from stone sculpture to bold colored paintings and assemblage, visitors are going to delight in the variety of talent and style these artists represent.

Visitors will have until Nov. 23 to take in the flavor of “Sabor” giving them access to contemporary Latin American art created in our own backyard.
