Santa Barbara First District Supervisor Das Williams: Evacuation Warning issued for Friday evening

Greetings! ,

The weather advisory issued for FRIDAY night through SATURDAY morning has been upgraded to an evacuation warning. A storm is coming in that is expected to be exceed thresholds to require evacuation. This means that we are in the “Set” phase of the new evacuation timeline our staff has developed and been educating the public on.

Anyone living in the areas highlighted in the updated debris risk map should be prepared to be out of their home Friday evening until, at least, Saturday morning. If we move forward with an evacuation order tomorrow, Sheriff deputies will be out in the community notifying people that they need to leave.

The storm from this morning did bring down a lot of debris into our basins. Our crews are working overnight to clear it to make sure they are empty before this newest storm. Please be aware of trucks coming down, hauling out this debris. It is critical that we get it out.

Make sure you are signed up for our County’s Aware and Prepare program to get the best and most updated information as soon as it’s available. Please stay safe and let me know if there is anything you need.
