More Than 200 Volunteers Will Gather to Create Custom Playhouses for Military and Veteran Families
VENTURA — Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County (Habitat Ventura) is excited to announce our annual Playhouse Build Blitz on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, in Westlake Village, presented by Bank of America. The special event will bring together community partners and volunteers to design and build one-of-a-kind playhouses for the children of local military and veteran families.
Our 2025 Playhouse Build Blitz will bring together more than 150 local volunteers to decorate custom playhouses to gift to local military and veteran families. This event provides volunteers a unique opportunity to celebrate Veterans Day by thanking military families for their service and helps raise funds for Habitat Ventura’s life-changing programs through sponsorships for the playhouses built by volunteers.
This is the fourth consecutive year Bank of America has been the presenting sponsor of this impactful event. “Bank of America’s continued sponsorship allows Habitat Ventura to expand our impact year after year, supporting more local families, including our military and veteran community, with safe, stable places to call home,” said Darcy Taylor, CEO, Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County.
“Having supported Habitat for Humanity for nearly 40 years – and having banked the US Military for over 100 years – we’re honored to help our military and veteran families any way we can, from housing opportunities to bringing smiles to kids’ faces,” says Midge Campbell-Thomas, Bank of America president, Ventura-Santa Barbara. “This Playhouse Build Blitz with the Ventura Habitat chapter is always a favorite volunteer event for our Ventura teammates, along with the new home builds and renovation days. It’s a great partnership.”
Additional playhouse sponsors include BG Law, Blois Construction, Lifetech Resources, Amazon-OXR1, Relaw APC, RRM Design Group, the Trade Desk, and Wesley Thomas General Contractor. The funds raised by the Blitz will support Habitat Ventura’s programs that build and repair homes, helping families and individuals in our community work together toward safe, affordable homeownership and a brighter future.
Military and veteran families interested in receiving a playhouse are encouraged to reach out, as we are still adding families to the recipient list. Additionally, community members who wish to support the event can sign up to volunteer; extra hands are always needed and welcome. Our homeownership program partners with families based on their need for housing, ability to afford a mortgage, and commitment to participating in the building process.
