Your Port helped serve over 500 hot Thanksgiving meals for the unhoused at Casa Lopez.
Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
A heartfelt thank you to John Routh, Manager of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and Jill Shaffer, Executive Director of the Ventura County Chapter, for their outstanding leadership and dedication. We are honored to stand with the Alzheimer’s Association, California Central Coast Chapter, in the fight to end Alzheimer’s.
We are grateful for the recognition and proud to continue supporting this vital cause alongside our community partners.
Native American Heritage Month
During Native American Heritage Month we honor the living traditions and enduring legacy of all Native peoples. During our last Board Meeting we celebrated Joseph Valencia, a local Chumash Tomol builder, whose work revives the traditional plank canoe and honors the unceded Chumash land of the region. Through his dedication, Joseph uplifts Chumash history and ensures that their stories, resilience, and cultural knowledge continue to guide future generations. His craft is more than a vessel and serves as a bridge between past and present, reminding us that Chumash culture is alive and carried forward with each stroke on the water.
Veterans Day
The Port was grateful to participate in ceremonies in Port Hueneme and Oxnard to honor the heroes among us — thank you to all veterans for your service.
Food Distributions
A very special thank you to the volunteers, partners, port staff, and Commissioners who worked so hard to make all of our recent Thanksgiving turkey and food distributions a success. We aren’t here to be a rich port, but to enrich the community… and it’s a privilege to be able to host these events. We’re thankful for each of you.
