VENTURA COUNTY — Over 200 community leaders, alumni and partners gathered Thursday, Aug. 20th, at the Ventura County Office of Education for The Big Reveal Party, where the organization formerly known as Ventura County Leadership Academy introduced its new name, Leadership Ventura County, alongside an expanded slate of leadership programming built to reach more of Ventura County.
While Leadership Ventura County’s new identity marks a visible change, organization leaders say the programming behind it is the real story: a broader, more accessible approach to developing leaders across the region.
“Our new name, Leadership Ventura County, is really about access,” said Pattie Braga, Executive Director. “With Leadership Class, Leadership Explore, Leadership Elevate, and Leadership Connect, we now have programs tailored to where someone is at personally or within their career, whether that’s a nine-month deep dive or a first step into their community. This next chapter is about opening that door wider for more people across the county.”
NEW PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS
- Leadership Class: Leadership Ventura County’s signature, nine-month immersive program takes leaders from the business, education, nonprofit and public sectors through the critical issues impacting the community, including nine focus sessions from September to May and a three-day trip to Sacramento. This program also helps classmates build relationships within the group and throughout the growing alumni network, which now includes 890 leaders.
- Leadership Explore: A condensed crash course perfect for connecting leaders in new management positions, newcomers to the county, and lifelong residents ready to plug into our community.
- Leadership Connect: A way to engage with Leadership Ventura County and help build a stronger, more connected community through a mentoring match program, volunteering opportunities, civic engagement initiatives, and alumni and community networking.
- Leadership Elevate: This continuing education-style program offers standalone workshops on relevant leadership topics, providing busy professionals with flexible opportunities to develop new skills, gain fresh perspectives, and grow as leaders.
Together, the four programs reflect Leadership Ventura County’s broader mission to create leadership development opportunities across business, government, education and community sectors, promoting the inclusion of diverse leaders, and broadening awareness of the issues shaping Ventura County.
