June 27 — Nate’s Place Youth Leaders in Oxnard to host free Youth Community Wellness Festival

McCune Foundation-Sponsored Event Celebrates Connection, Recovery, and the Power of Youth Voices

OXNARD — The Youth Leadership Council at Nate’s Place Wellness and Recovery Center will host Youth Community Wellness Fest, a free, family-friendly community celebration on Saturday, June 27, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Nate’s Place, 3840 W. Channel Islands Blvd., Oxnard.

The event is made possible by a grant from the McCune Foundation, which supports community-led initiatives advancing social justice in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Wellness Fest is the culminating public event of the Youth Leadership Council’s first program year, funded through the McCune Foundation’s Social Justice Youth Leadership Group grant.

The initiative trains youth ages 13 to 26 in community organizing, public speaking, and civic advocacy, equipping them to identify and address inequities in mental health and substance abuse services. The event is free and open to the public.

What to Expect at Wellness Fest

  • Free food and refreshments for all attendees
  • Live music throughout the afternoon
  • 16 community vendors and resource booths
  • Photo booth, ping pong, games, and outdoor activities
  • Remarks from Nate’s Place Youth Leaders
  • Guided tours of Nate’s Place and information on summer programming

“Our Youth Leaders didn’t just plan this event—they built it. Wellness Fest is proof of what young people can do when they are given real resources, real responsibility, and real trust. We are grateful to the McCune Foundation for believing in this vision.”

Heidi Allison LCSW, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Nate’s Place
