Opening Night Gala

MONDAY, JULY 20

Join us for an evening at the speakeasy as we enjoy champagne cocktails, absinthe-inspired libations, exceptional bites, and 1930s French swing jazz by the renowned San Lyon ensemble. Proceeds to benefit VMF’s music education and community programs.

Beethoven’s Choice

THURSDAY, JULY 23

Beethoven’s Choice is a Classical Edge talk and concert, a meeting between music and the story behind the notes. Part concert, part history, and part discovery, renowned music educator and classical violinist Nuvi Mehta will be joined onstage by Greg Anderson, celebrated pianist of Anderson & Roe. Together, they’ll take us on an educational journey featuring the music of Beethoven.

Justo Almario & Jeremy Bosch

SATURDAY, JULY 25

Justo Almario, a forerunner of the Latin jazz movement in the United States, brings his Afro-Colombian jazz ensemble and music from his newly released album Alegria. Rising Puerto Rican star Jeremy Bosch, one of the most electrifying young voices in salsa and Latin jazz today, fronts his own orchestra in a show built for dancing. Two distinct sounds, two separate orchestras, one extraordinary night: Almario’s deeply rooted Colombian jazz tradition meeting Bosch’s high-energy salsa fire.

Akropolis Reed Quintet

SUNDAY, JULY 26

Described as “a sonically daring ensemble who specializes in performing new works with charisma and integrity” by BBC Music Magazine, the quintet comprises five reed players who have commissioned and premiered more than 200 works by living composers, making them true pioneers of the reed quintet as a modern genre.
