SANTA BARBARA — Family, friends, fellow veterans, and community members gathered Oct. 2 at Santa Barbara Cemetery for the graveside military memorial honoring decorated World War II veteran and longtime local resident Arthur Max Petersen, who passed away on September 14 at the age of 102.
Members of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) served as pallbearers and conducted the traditional military funeral flag folding ceremony. The ceremony featured an officiated service, bagpipe performance, Taps, and concluded with a T-34 squadron flyover in the missing man formation.
