This year’s celebration feels especially meaningful — not only because we’re marking 25 years of organizing for justice across Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, but — because we’re celebrating a historic victory that you helped make possible:

A Historic Victory for Oxnard and our Region

After years of organizing alongside community members, advocates, and partners, the state has committed to the retirement of the Ormond Beach Generating Station (OBGS) by the end of the year.

This is a landmark victory for our region, and especially for the Oxnard community members who have organized fearlessly for years toward the retirement of dirty fossil fuels and toward a cleaner, healthier energy future.

And that’s one of the many reasons we’re excited to have California Energy Commissioner Noemí Gallardo as our keynote speaker at Raising Justice.

Noemí has been a close ally to CAUSE throughout this historic campaign, and we’ve deeply appreciated her leadership at the Energy Commission — particularly her commitment to advancing California’s clean energy transition while centering the needs of frontline communities like those that make up our base.

And, as someone who grew up in Ventura County, Noemí brings a unique perspective to this moment and what the Ormond Beach victory means for our region.
