Friend,
Every election season brings important decisions, but this year one issue in particular feels especially close to home.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting thousands of residents across the Central Coast. I’ve met parents working multiple jobs to provide stability for their children, seniors living on fixed incomes, frontline essential farmworkers seeking safety and stability for their families, veterans looking for a place to call home, and young families wondering whether they’ll ever be able to afford to stay in the community where they grew up. While their stories are all different, they share a common thread: housing.
It’s no secret that California’s housing challenges affect nearly every corner of our state. We see it in our work at People’s Self-Help Housing every day, and many of us have experienced it personally.
In a few weeks, California voters will consider Proposition 1: the Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2026. Whatever your perspective on the measure, I encourage you to take time to learn about it and understand what it could mean for California’s future. The decisions we make at the ballot box help shape the opportunities available to our neighbors and future generations.
As Election Day approaches, I hope you’ll take a few moments to learn about the issues on your ballot and make your voice heard. Our communities are strongest when we all participate in shaping their future.Thank you for your partnership and for your commitment to making the Central Coast a place where all of us can live, work, and flourish.
Warmly,

Ken Trigueiro, CEO & President
