VENTURA — From the services residents turn to during emergencies to the everyday programs that support families and neighborhoods, the County of Ventura depends on an experienced workforce to meet the ever-evolving needs of the community. On Tuesday, October 20, during their regular meeting, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors recognized 15 employees who reached milestones of 25 years or more of continuous service, honoring careers that collectively represent 415 years of public service. Their decades of experience reflect a lasting commitment to the communities they serve and the important role they play in keeping County services strong.

Providing reliable public services is central to the County’s mission. Across County agencies, more than 10,000 employees work to deliver essential programs, support residents, and respond to community needs. Among them, long-time employees bring valuable experience and a deep understanding of County operations that help maintain the quality and consistency of those services.

“It is an honor to recognize the dedicated service of so many County employees who have devoted decades of their lives to serving our community,” stated Chair of the Board Jeff Gorell. “Across the County of Ventura, these individuals provide the critical services residents rely on every day – from public safety and healthcare to social services, infrastructure, and environmental stewardship. Their professionalism, compassion, and commitment strengthen our communities and improve the quality of life for all who call Ventura County home. We are deeply grateful for their service and proud to recognize their lasting impact.”

For the County, retaining experienced employees helps preserve valuable knowledge, maintain continuity in essential programs, and strengthen the teams responsible for serving the public. Employees who have built long careers with the County bring an understanding of local needs and operations that help agencies navigate challenges and adapt to change. Their experience also supports the County’s ability to continue providing dependable services as the needs of the community evolve.

“The strength of our County comes from the people who show up every day to serve our community,” said County Executive Officer Dr. Sevet Johnson. “Our longtime employees bring years of experience, a deep understanding of the communities we serve, and a commitment to doing their work well. Their contributions help us maintain reliable services, support their colleagues, and continue meeting the needs of Ventura County residents.”

The 15 employees who were acknowledged were honored through the County’s Employee Continuous Service Recognition Program, which recognizes employees at 25 years of continuous service and every five-year milestone thereafter. The program celebrates the dedication of employees who have spent decades serving Ventura County and its residents.
