VENTURA COUNTY — Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (Cabrillo EDC), the region’s leading affordable housing developer, announces the launch of its inaugural Summer to Remember program, an eight-week youth enrichment initiative in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme designed to support children and teens living in affordable housing communities managed by Cabrillo EDC across Ventura County.
“We are excited to partner with Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation to bring a Summer to Remember to life for young people in our community. This partnership allows us to meet kids where they are, providing safe, engaging, and enriching summer experiences that support learning, confidence, and connection. When organizations come together with a shared commitment to youth and families, the impact is powerful and lasting,” said Erin Antrim, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme
The Summer to Remember program was created to ensure that young residents have access to safe, engaging, and structured summer experiences close to home. The initiative combines recreational activities, academic enrichment, creative programming, and community-building opportunities delivered in select Cabrillo housing communities.
“Summer should be a time of growth, exploration, and joy, not a gap in opportunity,” said Victoria Brady, Chief Executive Officer, Cabrillo EDC. “With Summer to Remember, we are investing directly in our youth and strengthening the communities they call home.”
The program reflects Cabrillo EDC’s broader mission of integrating housing with resident services that promote long-term stability and upward mobility. By bringing programming directly into its affordable housing communities, Cabrillo EDC seeks to reduce barriers such as transportation, cost, and access that often limit participation in summer enrichment opportunities.
The inaugural year will focus on building consistent programming across participating sites, engaging local partners, and creating a foundation for long-term expansion. Activities will emphasize educational support, physical wellness, leadership development, and creative expression.
In addition to programming, Cabrillo EDC has launched a community fundraising effort to support Summer to Remember. Donations will directly fund materials, staffing, field experiences, meals, and enrichment activities for participating youth. Community support is essential to the success and sustainability of this initiative. Every contribution helps provide meaningful summer experiences for the young people who are growing up in Ventura County today.
Cabrillo EDC invites community members, philanthropic partners, and local businesses to support the Summer to Remember program. Donations can be made to help expand youth services and ensure that every participating child has access to a safe, enriching, and memorable summer.
