I have long been worried about climate change, but I wasn’t sure what I could actually do to make an impact in my community.
That changed when I joined CEC’s Climate Stewards program.
I gained the tools and confidence to take action, and soon found myself helping bring the “Make Polluters Pay” campaign to Santa Barbara County, organizing alongside students and community members.
It showed me what’s possible when people come together.
Today, I’m part of a growing network of Climate Stewards working toward a future beyond fossil fuels right here in our community.
But that progress isn’t guaranteed — especially at a moment like this, when so much is at stake.
We can’t go back.
What I’ve come to understand is that opportunities like the Climate Stewards program don’t just happen.
They’re made possible by people who believe in this work and who invest in others stepping into leadership.
