THOUSAND OAKS — Senior Concerns is seeking an experienced business or community leader to serve as a Volunteer Engagement Advisor, in pro bono leadership role designed to support and strengthen its network of more than 440 volunteers.
The organization invites retired or semi-retired professionals looking to give back in a meaningful way to contribute approximately 10 hours per week in a flexible, collaborative environment.
Volunteers play a central role in advancing Senior Concerns’ mission to support older adults and family caregivers. They deliver Meals On Wheels to homebound seniors, support participants in the Adult Day Program, assisting family caregivers, and help bring the organization’s fundraising and community events to life.
The Volunteer Engagement Advisor will provide thoughtful leadership and guidance to enhance the volunteer experience and support staff in coordinating efforts across programs. With administrative support already in place, the role focuses on outreach, mentorship, communication, and overall strategy rather than day-to-day operations.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing guidance on volunteer recruitment, onboarding and engagement
• Strengthening communication with volunteers across programs
• Aligning volunteer efforts with organizational needs and priorities
• Enhancing volunteer recognition and retention strategies
• Offering a strategic perspective to improve systems and processes over time
“This role is about giving back in a way that truly matters,” said Andrea Gallagher, president and CEO of Senior Concerns. “For the right person, it’s an opportunity to use a lifetime of experience to strengthen a program that touches thousands of lives each year and to be part of a community that deeply values connection and service.”
Ideal candidates will have experience leading people or teams, strong communication skills, and a collaborative approach. A passion for supporting older adults and family caregivers is essential.
Senior Concerns serves more than 13,000 older adults and caregivers annually through programs including Meals On Wheels, Adult Day services, caregiver support, and senior advocacy.
