April 12 — ReFrame 2026: A Day of Inspiration, Advocacy, and Skill-Building for Ventura County’s Creative Community

CAMARILLO — Ventura County’s artists, cultural leaders, and creative entrepreneurs are invited to gather for ReFrame, a one-day convening designed to strengthen the region’s creative economy and support the people who power it. The 3rd annual event is taking place Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM at Studio Channel Islands Art Center (SCIArt) in Camarillo. It brings together creatives from across the county to learn, connect, and explore how arts and culture can drive both community wellbeing and economic vitality.

Presented by TOArts and the County of Ventura, with support from the Oxnard Performing Arts Center Nonprofit (OPAC) and SCIArt, the event centers on the theme: “Creating Resiliency: How Arts & Culture Can Protect Us, Connect Us, and Help Us Heal.” Through panels, workshops, and immersive experiences, participants will explore the powerful role the arts play in shaping healthier, more connected communities.

The program features a full day of networking, learning, and creative exchange. Highlights include:

  • A panel exploring how art-driven projects are reshaping conversations about mental health and community healing

  • A countywide focus group led by Californians for the Arts to identify Ventura County’s arts priorities ahead of the statewide Arts & Culture Summit in Sacramento

  • An afternoon panel on immersive and experiential art led by the After Hours Theatre team.

Attendees will also choose from practical workshops designed to strengthen creative careers and organizations, including sessions on public art opportunities, innovative nonprofit funding models, and micro-arts practices that support workplace wellbeing. The day concludes with a happy hour and creative finale, giving participants a chance to celebrate and continue building connections across the region.

The event will open with welcome remarks, a land acknowledgment, a Chumash blessing, and remarks from Ventura County Supervisor Kelly Long.

ReFrame is designed for artists, culture bearers, employees of arts organizations, and business owners in the creative sector who want to better understand their role in Ventura County’s growing creative economy and develop tools to advocate for their work.

“ReFrame is about recognizing the power of creativity—not just as expression, but as a driver of healing, connection, and economic growth in Ventura County,” organizers said. “By bringing together artists, nonprofit leaders, and creative entrepreneurs, we’re building a stronger ecosystem for the arts in our region.”

ReFrame is made possible through the generous support of local partners and sponsors, including the Ventura County Community Foundation, VibeWell and Five07, who believe in the power of arts and culture to strengthen Ventura County.
