Happy Holidays from Das and Spencer

Dear Friends,

After many years of collective public service, you may be wondering what we are up to. You guessed it—we could not stop serving the public! We are fighting for clean and affordable energy in a new way.

We are working for the local, five-county Community Choice Aggregator, Central Coast Community Energy (3CE), and we are loving it. In a darkening age, living our values through our energy, fuel, and travel choices is crucial to avoid the worst effects of climate change. Ya’Ash has also gotten in on the act, creating hand-drawn posters and chalk paintings of steps you can take to save the environment.

Our amazing Government Affairs Team – Sophia Schwirzke, Spencer Brandt, and me.

3CE is an energy provider formed by a coalition of 35 cities and counties across the Central Coast. We buy long-term renewable energy contracts on your behalf, and our Policy Board of Directors has committed to reaching 100% clean and renewable energy.

Because we have no shareholders and are a public agency, we reinvest your rates into programs to help you and others reduce energy usage or switch from gas to electric. Some rebate amounts are changing in the new year, making now a good time to invest in electrification.

Through the Electrify Your Home program, rebates are available for all-electric home upgrades, including:

  • Heat pump water heaters and HVAC systems, with rebates up to $3,000
  • Induction cooktops, portable heat pumps, and pre-wiring upgrades, with rebates up to $1,000
Through the Electrify Your Ride program, rebates are available for electric vehicles and charging, including:

  • New battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and electric motorcycles, with rebates up to $4,000
  • Used electric vehicles, with rebates up to $3,000
  • Level 2 EV chargers and EV installation work, with rebates up to $4,700
We hope this information is helpful as you plan for the year ahead. Happy Holidays – we miss you and hope to see you soon!
