Hi, I’m Freddy, President of the Board of Trustees at the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (MCASB).
I’m excited to share an important milestone: we’ve just welcomed six remarkable new leaders to our Board of Trustees—individuals deeply committed to strengthening the connection between Art and Democracy in our community.
Our New Trustees:
Cassandria Blackmore – Artist, Santa Barbara, CA
Amy Harrison – Independent art teacher, Carpinteria, CA
Angela Robins – Senior Director, Various Small Fires; winemaker, Los Angeles, CA
Lea Sindija – Miami-born entrepreneur advancing culture-driven work in talent representation, brand partnerships, and global marketing; Santa Barbara, CA
Bany Vargas – Zapoteca; Oaxaca-born, Santa Barbara–raised cultural ambassador and traditional cook; Oaxaca, Mexico
Their leadership strengthens MCASB at a moment when your support matters more than ever.
I’m grateful to those who have already responded to the MCASB Future Fund—17 donors have made gifts between $50 and $5,000, and 15 others have stepped up as sustaining members.
Since 1976, MCASB has been free to all—a cultural anchor for bold, challenging, and transformative contemporary art. But today, we are at a crossroads. Without community support, this vital platform for creativity, representation, and free expression is at risk.
We are the only free contemporary art museum between Los Angeles and the Bay Area—one of only four in California. Your gift ensures we remain open, accessible, and fearless in championing artists and ideas that strengthen our democracy.
Thank you for believing in art, in freedom, and in the power of creativity to shape the future we share.
I raise a glass to you,
Freddy President, Board of Trustees Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara
