Now Accepting Nominations: VCAAA LEGACY Awards

The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging (VCAAA) is now accepting nominations for its 2025 LEGACY Awards, which honor individuals, businesses, and organizations that go above and beyond to support older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers in living well and independently.

  • Business/Organization
  • Dementia-Friendly Business/Organization
  • Community Member/Volunteer

 

The LEGACY Awards were established in 2018 by the Optimal Aging Committee, a subcommittee of the VCAAA’s Advisory Council, to spotlight exceptional contributions that make Ventura County a better place for aging and accessible living.

Calling All New & Expecting Dads: Bootcamp Workshop

Join experienced fathers for a powerful, hands-on workshop where they’ll share how they navigated the early months of parenthood and how you can too!

 

In this unique session, expecting dads learn directly from new and veteran dads as they demonstrate real-life baby care: feeding, burping, changing, bonding, and more. You’ll also hear honest advice, encouragement, and practical tips for building confidence as a new parent.

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT – Ventura County Public Defender Hosts Fresh Start Clinics

The Ventura County Public Defender’s Office is helping residents clear a path to new opportunities through its Fresh Start Clinics, a series of free legal events designed to support individuals seeking to reduce or clear their criminal records.

 

These clinics provide one-on-one assistance with:

  • Expungements & felony reductions
  • Record sealing
  • Early probation termination
  • Return of property petitions
  • Certificates of rehabilitation

 

Whether you’re looking to improve job prospects, secure stable housing, or simply turn the page, Fresh Start Clinics are a valuable resource to help you move forward.

Participants can also visit the Swap Meet Justice Clinic at Oxnard College Swap Meet, held on the last Sunday of each month, where legal experts offer guidance and file petitions on-site
