The federal funding freeze is impacting nonprofits across the country, and while we thought SBCFAN would be spared—since we don’t receive federal funds—we are now feeling the ripple effects. Many funding institutions have redirected their support to organizations that lost federal funding, leaving gaps for others–including us.
We cannot afford to slow down. We are at a pivotal moment, with ready to launch projects that will create jobs, generate income, and reinvest in our local food economy:
- Meat processing and buyer networks to strengthen markets for locally raised food
- Activating new home kitchen businesses to empower small-scale food entrepreneurs
- Co-coordinating economic development within our regional food system to drive lasting change
SBCFAN is the backbone of food system resilience in Santa Barbara County. We connect local food producers, food businesses, and community organizations to ensure that food grown here stays here—feeding our communities, strengthening our economy, and reducing waste.
