As Southern California faces severe fire weather and devastating fires, I’d like to take a moment to remind you of important safety information to help keep you and your loved ones safe.

? Stay Informed:

  • Emergency Alerts: If you haven’t yet registered for emergency alerts, now is the time. Visit VCALERT.ORG to sign up today.
  • Emergency Updates: Stay up to date on all emergency information at VCEMERGENCY.COM. This site also provides links to updates for neighboring counties.

?? Be Prepared:

? Weather Outlook:

Ventura County Sheriff’s Emergency Services and the National Weather Service are monitoring a strong Santa Ana Wind event expected to impact Ventura County thru Friday, January 10th.

  • High Wind Watches/Warnings: In effect thru Wednesday at 6 PM for most of Ventura County.
  • Red Flag Conditions: Anticipated along the Malibu coast, Santa Monica Mountains, Ventura County beaches, Santa Susana Mountains, and eastern valleys.
  • Wind Intensity:
  • Highest intensity expected in eastern Ventura County (e.g., Simi Valley) with gusts of 50-80 mph.
  • Isolated gusts up to 100 mph possible.

? Potential Power Outages:

Southern California Edison is monitoring 83 circuits (as of this time) for potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events during peak wind periods:

  • Concern Period thru Thursday at 12 PM.
  • For updates on affected circuits, visit the Incident Dashboard.
