District 2 Supervisor Jeff Gorell update — Mountain Fire Relief

District 2 Update

Dear Neighbors,

Following the impact of the Mountain Fire, please know that there is a strong network of agencies working tirelessly to support your recovery. Today, we launched a Local Assistance Center, in Camarillo, providing resources for those affected. Whether you need information on housing, financial assistance, or guidance on cleanup and rebuilding, there is help available for you and your family.

As you begin to rebuild, I want you to know that I am here for you. Together, we’ll navigate this path and help our community rise stronger than before.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the many residents, businesses, and nonprofits that have stepped up in impactful ways to support recovery. Your kindness and commitment are truly making a difference during these challenging times.

Warm regards,

Jeff

Mountain Fire Relief

Wildfire Relief and Recovery Fund

A heartfelt thank you to the Annenberg Foundation for their generous $100,000 donation to support the Ventura County Wildfire Relief and Recovery Fund coordinated by the Ventura County Community Foundation in partnership with the County of Ventura. This contribution will bring much-needed resources to those who have lost their homes and are working to rebuild their lives.

Pet Adoptions

Due to an increase in animals arriving at Ventura County Animal Services, we’re offering fee-waived adoptions for all available pets through Saturday, November 30. By adopting, you’re not only gaining a wonderful companion—you’re also helping us make room for critical cases needing urgent care. Take a peek at the animals waiting for their forever homes at www.vcas.us/pets, and learn more about the adoption process at www.vcas.us/adopt.

Local Assistance Center Now Open

The Local Assistance Center is now open for victims of the Mountain Fire. It will be open, Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ventura County Office of Education, 5100 Adolfo Rd, Camarillo, CA.

Community Involvement

Trail Clean-Up

Special thanks to community members and Cal State Channel Islands Student Government for coming out to the Mt. Boney Trail Clean-up this month! It was a great opportunity to make an impact in our community. I also really appreciate Athens Services for donating dumpsters for the effort!

Check out the Traill clean-up video courtesy of Camarillo Resident Bieke. Here’s her message:

“Trash Talks is back! It’s been a long time, and this time it was 2 years ago when I challenged politicians before their elections in joining me with a trash clean-up. Back then, Supervisor candidate Jeff Gorell accepted the challenge. Now, I was invited by the Gorell Team to come out for this Trail clean-up and I accepted. If this becomes a yearly event I’ll be proud to have started this! After watching the video, please go out to your own neighborhood and pick up the trash to help make your neighborhood neater. Everyone wants a beautiful and clean neighborhood, right? Enjoy the video. Share the video to inspire others to join trash pickup everywhere.”

District 2 has four Municipal Advisory Councils (MACs) located in unincorporated areas including Casa Conejo, Somis, Santa Rosa Valley and Oak Park. While they don’t make government policies, MACs give valuable input to help me make informed decisions and allocate resources effectively.
