The Center for Economics of Social Issues invites you to save the date for its upcoming conference, which will be held on February 28th at California Lutheran University’s campus. The conference will bring a vast collection of data processed carefully and presented clearly to shed light on the challenges of enjoying a dignified life on the central coast of California. Meaningful human development rests on the ability to live a dignified life.

Affordability is not a vague concept; it is the foundation of living a dignified life. You will be surprised to learn that based on the latest information provided by MIT Living Wage Data for a family of one adult with two children, no jobs pay an average annual salary equal to the living wage for such a family in Santa Cruz or Monterey counties. Only two jobs have a yearly average wage for such families in Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. Now, we bring to such a struggle the widely prevailing gaps based on gender, racial, and ethnic differences.
