Clean Energy To Power 60,000 Central Coast Homes

I am beyond excited to announce a big win for our climate and the Central Coast. Yesterday, Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) cut the ribbon on the Victory Pass and Arica Solar and Storage projects.

This project delivers 100 megawatts of solar and 25 megawatts of battery storage. That adds up to 5% of the total Central Coast electricity load. And on top of that, this project was completed ahead of schedule and created over 1,000 union jobs.

Four years ago, the 3CE Board set an ambitious goal: get to 100% renewable energy before the State’s targets. Today, we are witnessing that clean energy future become a reality, one project at a time.

Climate Change is the greatest environmental challenge of our time. It is our generation’s duty to act with the urgency to transition from fossil fuels to clean energy, quickly.

That’s why I wanted my 6-year-old daughter to join us to witness this event. Someday, our children will judge us on the world we have passed on to them. I hope we can say that we fought to leave them something decent.

Vote-By-Mail Ballots Have Arrived

All registered voters will receive their ballot in the mail THIS WEEK. Voters are encouraged to vote their ballot and return it early before Election Day, November 5th. Drop boxes are available 24 hours a day, beginning Monday, October 7 until 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 5. A list of drop box locations can be found here.

Voting by mail at a drop box is safe, secure, and easy. Using the official ballot drop box also ensures that your ballot will arrive at the elections office promptly to be processed and counted.

If you are a registered voter who did not receive your ballot, contact the Santa Barbara County Registrar of Voters office at 800-722-8683. In my experience, this usually means that you have moved recently and need to re-register to vote with your new address.

More EV Chargers Coming Soon!

The County has received a grant award of $4.7 million from the California Energy Commission to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This was the second highest recommended grant award given to any applicant! To date, 217 EV Chargers have been deployed throughout the region, and this grant will fund the deployment of 150 more – 36 of which will be level-3 Fast Chargers.
