DOWNTOWN OXNARD — Los Mixos, one of Oxnard’s newest music bands, in collaboration with Red Sky Productions and HOPE Social Skills for Teens with Autism, will be performing live for a multi-camera, internet-streamed studio concert called Downtown Window (DTW), to promote their original 5-song music EP. The concert will be performed and streamed on the internet at www.DowntownWindow.com on Saturday, August 27th at 4pm at the Red Sky Productions studio in downtown Oxnard. Through the livestream, fans will see and hear Los Mixos’ newly released songs filmed in a music video type set with lighting, set design and props with the help of a crew of camera operators, sound engineers, a cinematographer and television director.
Los Mixos is composed of lead singer, Anessa (@anessamusic), and band members, Abi, Evee, Rene, and Joe. Anessa’s dulcet voice, magnetic personality, and ability to play multiple instruments (piano, bass, guitar, drums, accordion, keyboard, trumpet), as well as the group’s diverse musical inspirations, are just some of the reasons they are one of the area’s most sought after bands for local events. Los Mixos are part of the new Latinx music scene taking place in Oxnard.
Events like Los Fest, a day-long music experience that took place in early 2022 at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center (OPAC), gathered numerous punk, rock and Latinx bands to what seems to have stirred a buzz from locals. Carolyn Mullin, the executive director at the OPAC said, “Our local bands are starving for venues to play. For Los Fest, we even opened our classrooms and they were such a hit, a total vibe. Downtown Window is dynamic and unique way to highlight atypical local venues and local bands. I can’t wait to see who else they line up!”
Other events like Downtown Oxnard’s First Thursday’s Food Trucks, Heritage Square Summer Concert Series and Pachanga Sundays, have also showcased the growing list of talent. DTW was created in response to downtown Oxnard’s growing local business, music and art scene, and to help bands like Los Mixos get their new music out to the public.
Anessa’s message to fans is that they should be excited to watch their live performance because they’ll “get to check out [their] newest EP before it’s released.” She also mentions that if it wasn’t for the fans, they wouldn’t be here. The livestream will be a “great opportunity for growth and will give our fans a closer look into our core values, style and what we stand for.”
Los Mixos, Red Sky Productions and HOPE Social Skills for Teens with Autism invite everyone to watch Los Mixos in the livestream internet concert on Saturday, August 27th at 4pm by logging on to www.DowntownWindow.com
